Between March 1 and May 10, 2011, Dr. Paul Volkman was tried for prescription drug dealing in Federal Court in Cincinnati, Ohio. On May 10, 2011, he was convicted on many of the counts with which he was charged, and he was ultimately sentenced to four consecutive life terms in federal prison. Shortly after the trial ended, I set out to obtain copies of the exhibits that were admitted into evidence and shown to the jury during the trial. Since this was an open trial, this should have been pretty straightforward, right? Wrong.
